We are proud to announce that we have secured the expertise of world leading spill advisers. We formalized this crucial step by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with ITOPF.

ITOPF has responded to over 840 incidents involving oil or chemical spills worldwide.

This agreement will allow us to request advice on oil pollution damage from ships. Upon request, ITOPF will assist us in evaluating the technical merits of claims. Yet, our Administrator will remain the ultimate decision-maker for the payment of claims.

Today also marks a turning point in our major spill compensation preparedness. We now have agreements with three of the top compensation players in the world:

• International Group of P&I Clubs (IGP&I)
• International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC Funds)
• ITOPF

Together, these agreements help collaboration among our four organizations. All have already committed to take part in a tabletop exercise. The upcoming exercise will be held in Canada and address joint claims management issues.
