We will be making a presentation at the Canadian Marine Advisory Council (CMAC) Meeting, before the Standing Committee on Fishing Vessel Safety and the Standing Committee on Recreational Boating.

On this occasion, we will be presenting our new claims manuals and guidelines, which include the 2018 legislative amendments to the Marine Liability Act (MLA). The manuals and guidelines were developed to assist claimants in submitting claims.

The new manuals and guidelines include the following:

• General Claims Manual;
• Expedited Process for Small Claims for claims not exceeding $35,000;
• Manual for Special Loss Claims;
• Compensation Handbook for Fishers, Aquaculturists, and All Involved in Related Activities.

We will also highlight how the Fund upholds Canada’s polluter pays principle when a shipowner causes oil pollution damages.
